FibroLAN unveils its new WDM solution
FibroLAN announced today, August 19th, 2008 its new expanded WDM product line.
A non-traditional approach was taken here: the base system is CWDM, with its inherent affordable costs and ease of solution design. DWDM expansion modules run over the base system yielding eventually up to 20 channels, more than double compared to traditional CWDM systems. These modules have been designed - and wavelengths carefully selected - to evade water-peaks, turning the network design into an easy and trouble free - virtually "lego"-like task.
Passive components include a series of multiplexers and OADMs, each coming in a basic low cost version and another, more advanced, that provides monitoring ports and redundancy.
Topologies supported - point-to-point over single or dual fiber strand, ring and redundant ring. Each channel of all passive components will pass signals up to 10Gbps so eventually the total bandwidth over the system may reach unprecedented 200Gbps!!!
A wide range of transponders is available, both fixed laser and SFP/XFP based, covering speeds from 100Mbps to 10Gbps.
Almost all passive and active system components are available both as MetroStar modules and as stand-alone, small footprint (1U/9.5") devices allowing optimization of deployment costs.
Israel Stein, FibroLAN's CEO comments: "the new addition to our existing WDM offering with its unique DWDM over CWDM approach, together with our comprehensive MetroStar platform make our portfolio into one of world's most powerful yet affordable transmission solutions for both access and backhauling applications. While tier 1 carriers will probably continue to rely on pure DWDM systems when building their core networks, they (as well as tier2-3 carriers and large enterprises) will find here an attractive alternative to build other parts of their networks".
